Look, I get it. Running the ship that we call home, caring for our minimes, bringing home the bacon and having it cooked with a side of veggies and on the table by 6:30 is serious business. It’s all so very time consuming, exhausting and self sacrificing. While I know we wouldn’t have it any other way, (okay, maybe a maid, personal chef and chauffeur would be pretty awesome), this thing called life can make self care a little (or a hella lot) difficult.
I’m about to get really personal here, so bear with me. For those who are unaware, I have lost both of my beloved parents and a very intense romantic relationship within the past eight months. My life now looks and feels very different; I think different and behave different. I no longer feel like I have all the time in the world to make my dreams and goals come to fruition. This is what great loss does to one; it forces us to reevaluate everything. I have experienced, first hand, how quickly it can all come crashing down, how second chances can cease to exist, and how those we love with all of our being are suddenly gone. Just like that. Completely gone.
A huge piece of my personal healing from all of this loss has been to reevaluate myself, including things such as my physical, emotional and mental health, the stories I tell myself (you know, those deeply ingrained lies), the way I parent, the way I love, the way I run my business, who I allow into my inner circle, what my life long goals are and how I plan to achieve them as well as who I want to achieve them with.
