I’ve had the pleasure of working with this kind and handsome gentleman on a couple of occasions and each one has been quite enjoyable. Bryant is the owner and mastermind behind Amalga Corporation, “a professional recruiting agency that is focused on mid-level to executive-level placements within client organizations that manufacture and distribute mechanical components to the automotive, aerospace and general industrial segments.”
WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY’S MISSION STATEMENT?
“Create a thriving organization by earning the trust and respect of our clients and candidates while never wasting anyone’s time.” While it is a pretty simple and concise statement, it really does hold all the keys to our business. We are proud of what we do and the relationships that we have with clients and candidates.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS?
I managed large groups of people in companies for many years and had always wanted to start my own business. As a sales and marketing person, I’m not a fan of a lot of administrative activity, so the business had to have limited transactions. It also had to be something that I could start from nothing, and I had used some terrible recruiters as a hiring manager, so I figured I could do it better. The business I was managing in 2006 was acquired, and I found myself without a job and living in Asheville. Like many people in the area, I had to make my own way, so I started Amalga Corporation from a crude home office. It came from necessity, a desire to travel less for work, and a big push from my wife to chase the dream of starting my own business.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU PERSONALLY?
The biggest inspiration in my life is being a dad to my three boys. They are 26, 23 and 9 years old, so it has been an amazing opportunity for me to grow while watching them grow. My father died when I was 18, and that event helped me define and understand the importance of my role as a father. My boys are all great young men who are very different individuals. They make me look like a better dad than I actually am…
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?
I enjoy hanging out with my family and cooking dinner, riding motorcycles, exercising, laughing hard with friends, and watching kids play baseball. Since I work in an office, I also enjoy manual labor as long as it isn’t repairing anything at the house. I wish I could spend more time on and in water, but it just doesn’t happen.
WHEN DO YOU FEEL MOST ALIVE?
We have a property that is about 12 minutes from our house. It has a waterfall, creek frontage and some rough acreage. When I am out there cutting wood, spinning truck tires, digging a trench, building a fire, trying to control vegetation, or just sitting by the creek, I feel absolutely amazing.
