As promised, I am collecting my natural light portrait skills into an educational series of tips and tricks in order to help all of you take the best selfies possible. So far I have addressed the following: Selfie Tip 01 | Face the Light and Selfie Tip 02 | Shoot From Above. Another important factor in creating a compelling self portrait is to pay attention to your background. How many times have you seen a picture posted with questionable items in the background? While this may create a good chuckle for viewers, this definitely does not create a good selfie. Instead, it’s distracting and takes away from accenting your best features. So just do a quick background check before clicking and you’ll be good.
While the example below was obviously taken at different times, I am in the same location (yes, that would be my living room), and while the background distraction in the second image is mighty cute, this is where the eye is drawn to. Get it? Go ahead and give it a try!

Much Love. ❤️
