Love this little girl. I had the great pleasure of photographing Madilyn’s lovely newborn squishiness when she was just five days old…man they grow quick! She is now a squealing, toddling, happy, gorgeous one year old big girl. Her personality is so sweet, just like her big sister, Mama and Dad; a truly loving and giving family. xo

While I always encourage clients to go big with their portraits, as it truly is aesthetically pleasing to view large artwork, the concept of creating a collage out of small prints is quite appealing to me as well. The creative options are limitless and the end result can not only be intriguing and pretty, but also tell a story. I might also add that the lack of need for a ruler, level and inevitably, spackling and paint is also rather attractive (or maybe that’s just me…I’m not the tidiest artwork hanger). In my opinion this type of display would work best with unframed prints sized at 5×7 or smaller (hint: a perfect project for your proofs from our full session). I’ll share pictures of my own collage as soon as it’s complete…

Just because she is so sweet and growing up so fast. Just because I adore this little Summer dress and long for warm weather. And just because the morning light in our home is delightful…

One of my 2012 business goals is to share decorating tips and ideas from around the web, our home, client’s homes and the plethora of interior design books and magazines we own. I know that displaying artwork is a major hurdle for a lot of my clients; they love their images but just don’t know what to do with them. In addition to helping with these decisions during in home proofing & ordering sessions I hope to inspire and build decorating confidence with these posts.
I love IKEA for many reasons. Walking through their showroom makes me go weak in the knees and we always come home brimming with fresh design inspiration. They also just happen to have a fantastic selection of frames at very affordable prices. We have a lot of prints in our home, a majority of which are displayed in IKEA frames, (I’ll be showcasing our home in an upcoming post). They simply work perfectly with our modern, minimalistic decor, but likewise would look top notch in a more traditional setting. Below are some images from IKEA’s current online catalog. I particularly like the tip in the first image: create an imaginary frame (or use painter’s tape if you need the visual) and do whatever you wish inside of that frame, making sure that pictures make it to the corners of the frame. Piece of cake! Enjoy!

Sweet little Campbell…her smile and beautiful big brown eyes are truly swoon worthy. Her tiny, perfectly chubby hands, feet and thighs bring me joy and that adorable little baby chuckle of hers was *almost* infectious enough to give me baby fever…

On a chilly, overcast, stir crazy kind of day getting out into nature is a very good thing…

I adore this little girl. She is so full of life. Her emotions are intense and all consuming…on both ends of the spectrum. Hmmm…wonder where she gets that from?! And she just keeps getting so big! I really need a pause button for this one. She is definitely our last baby…and boy did we go out with a bang! And um yeah…my childhood love for Punky Brewster is still alive and kicking…

Love this family, the urban setting, the bold colors, the light and the looks they kept giving each other. This was a really fun session with a bunch of down to earth folks. Many thanks to the F. family! xo

Little Lola has to be one of the most serious babies I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I mean, this girl is onto something and I have the feeling she is going to make big, fully contemplated waves in life as she grows up. My heart goes out to such a deep child. I truly look forward to working with this gorgeous little thinker and the sweetest parents ever later this month! xo
