As a child I was shy and quiet on the outside while my imagination soared on the inside. I spent hours daydreaming and squinting my eyes so I could see the sun’s rays extend and scatter. I have always had a fascination with light, the way it bends and shifts, softens or exaggerates that which it falls upon. Likewise, I am fascinated and in awe of the light within all of us; this is the true beauty we all contain and extend out into the world. To me, this is where photography becomes an art form; when it not only freezes emotions, experiences and relationships for our future selves to remember and savor, but when it truly reflects our essence of inner beauty. And this is, without a doubt, something we all embody.

In my work I strive to truly see people. I have a particular love for children, their freedom of Spirit and wanderlust approach to life; working with them brings me immense joy. I have always kept a piece of the child within me alive, which I believe allows me the gift of connection. I am able to see and respect children and their feelings; they truly are just as valid as any adults.

Smiles are important, but so are the awkward stances, the serious glances and the way curiosity fills a child’s eyes with a depth that words cannot convey. I wish to capture it all.

I am drawn to the myriad of emotions we all contain – joy, love, innocence, shyness, seriousness, sadness, awkwardness; as a photographer it is my joy and passion to capture the depth of feeling we all shine from within. I believe in simplicity and authenticity, in just spending time together and waiting to see what unfolds on its own accord. My hope as an artist of imagery is to facilitate a relaxed and playful portrait experience that will result in the co-creation of photographs that reflect honesty, beauty and soulfulness.

On a lighter note:

I am happily married with three small children.
I love to laugh – particularly at myself.
I love to dance and play – I have daily dance parties with my children.
I love to be in nature – I am so grateful to live in this corner of the world.
I love to cook healthy meals for my family – I admit, I do get into the same cooking blahs as anyone else.
I love to read and write – I have about four books and a journal going at any given time.
I fully enjoy coffee and can’t seem to pass up chocolate – trust me, I’ve tried.
